The First Well

One day, there was a disaster in a kingdom. The lake in that kingdom dried up because it hasn't rain for a whole year. So, the villagers came to the king for asked a suggestion. "It hasn't rain for so long. Our fields are barren!" said the farmers. "There are no fish to catch. How shall we earn a living?" asked the fisherman. "Save us from disaster, good king," urged the woman as their children cried with thirst. People grew anxious. Then, the king told them to relax and decided to send his four general to look for a water.

The first general went east, towards the sunrise. The second went south, to the dust and heat. The third went west, where the sunsets. And, the fourth followed the North Star.

The four general went to their own way. They try their best to found a water. The first general, second general, and the third general already try their best, but in the end they were give up and go back to their kingdom empty-handed. When they arrived, the fourth general hasn't came back. And no one knew where he is.

Meanwhile, the fourth general wasn't want to fail and made his king upset. After a long way, he reached a cold mountain village. Then, he sat at the foot of the mountain, he saw an old woman came by and then sat next to him. The old woman asked to him, "What happened?" Then, the fourth general answered "I was coming from that beautiful kingdom. But, it hasn't rain for a whole year. That makes our lake dried up. So, can you help me to find water?" "Sure," said the old woman.

Then, the old woman showed the way to a mountain and into a cave. The old woman told the fourth general to follow her and the fourth general followed her order. When they arrived, the fourth general was amazed. They were in the cave with a bunch of icicles. "We have no water in our country either," said the old woman. The fourth general keep saw the icicles because he never seen icicles before. Then, the old woman continued, "We call this ice, take some and your kingdom will never go thirsty anymore." After that, the fourth general took a huge ice and loaded it into his horse-cart and rushed back home to his kingdom.

A long time later, he reached the court. But, the huge ice had melted into a small lump of ice. Everybody were confused because no one had ever seen ice. One of the minister said, "This must be a water-seed!" So, the king told the people to sow the water-seed. The people immediately dug a hole and put the water-seed inside. But, before they want to cover it, the water-seed had vanished, it disappeared. The people went panicked and confused. They wonder where the water-seed gone. So, they dug it deeper and deeper for trying to find the water-seed. They keep dug the hole all night long until the people fell asleep around the hole.

The king came to the hole at the break of dawn. The king was curious, the he peeped in and he get shocked. He immediately said, "Wake up people! The water-seed has sprouted! There is a water!"

Then, their kingdom never go thirsty anymore and enjoy their happy life
